ClutronWelcome to the Abandon All Artichokes Tutorial!
In this quick playing card game the object is to either get rid of all your artichokes, or draw a hand of 5 cards with no artichokes in it.
Let's get into the game so I can show you how to play.1hand_item_62001
ClutronHere is your starting hand of cards, which at the start will be all artichokes because your starting deck is 10 artichoke cards. Artichokes can't be played on their own so you have to acquire and play other cards in order to get rid of them.
It's a good idea to note how many artichokes you have as you play the game so you don't forget.2hand_item_59000hand 1
ClutronThis is the compost area. When a card is said to be composted, it is removed from your hand/deck and placed here. Cards in the compost area are out of the game and won't be coming back.3compost_area000compost_area 1
ClutronThis is the Garden stack, this is where cards will be drawn from to refill the Garden Row or for effects like the [green]Peas[/green] card.4garden_stack_area000garden_stack_area 1
ClutronThis is what is called the Garden Row, these are the cards you will be picking from to add to your hand on every turn. So whenever a card refers to the garden row, this area is what its referring to.5garden_row_item_52000garden_row 3
ClutronLet's go ahead and play our turn. The first thing you do on your turn is to draw any card from the Garden Row to add it to your hand. Let's pick the [red]Beet[/red] card.6garden_row_item_11010garden_row_item_11 16
ClutronNow that you have added a card to your hand, it's time to play cards. Right now we only have one playable card, the [red]Beet[/red] card. When played you reveal a random card from your hand and someone else's, composting them if they are artichokes, swapping them if they aren't.
If a card has multiple targets to pick from, the choices will be shown at the top of the screen.1hand_item_11615da7d7a79c710hand_item_11 16
ClutronSo after the Beet card was played and fully resolved, our turn ended because we only had artichoke cards left. That meant we discarded the rest of our hand and drew a new hand of 5 cards.1discard_item_62615da7d93b42a00
ClutronNow it's our opponent's turn, let's see what he plays.2hand_item_79615da7d93b42a01
ClutronThey drew and played the [green]Broccoli[/green] card, which lets you compost an artichoke if you have more than three in your hand. A good card in the beginning, but not so great late game.1played_card_item_26615da832cf4a900
ClutronOur turn again, let's get a *Potato* this time.2garden_row_item_15615da832d47c710garden_row_item_15 16
ClutronBefore we play our card, just know that if you want to end your turn, you can always click *End Turn* here at the top.1pass615da83df1ab600
ClutronLet's play our *Potato*, this card reveals the top card of our deck, and if it's an artichoke, composts it. If it reveals anything else it is just discarded.2hand_item_15615da83df1ab610hand_item_15 16
ClutronYou will notice that our discard moved to our draw deck, that is because whenever you run out of cards to draw, your discard is shuffled to create a new draw deck. Now lets see if we get to compost an artichoke.1tray_deck615da83fca7c200
ClutronBad luck, we revealed our [red]Beet[/red] card, so it was just discarded.2discard_item_11615da83fcb9e300
ClutronAnd there you have it. Turns will continue with the harvest a card then play cards structure until someone composts all their artichokes, or draws a hand with no artichokes in it.3hand_item_59615da83fcf3cc01
ClutronCouple things to remember when playing this game:
-You will harvest one card, but can play as many as you like
-If you wonder what a card does, mouse over it and it will tell you exactly what it does
-You must be able to execute the entire effect of a card, or you can't play it. For example, the eggplant has you composting an artichoke, but if you have none in hand then you can't play the card4hand_item_59615da83fcf3cc01garden_row_item_61 11
