This happened in game 43428608 when the tiles were depleted and no new ones could be drawn. "FreeWiFi" was the player who had the issue. This bug is listed as "fixed" below, but I believe it's the same problem.

I am player liowal and I have the alien research team. An explore action was triggered and there are no more tiles in the draw pile... because I have the alien research team I am asked to chose the tile I want to keep but there's no tile to chosen. The game is totally stuck because of that.

Same problem with table #48694355. Tiles were depleted and Kristoff77 had Alien Research Team but no tiles showed up, and it blocked continuation of the game. Kristoff77 got penalized.

Our best guess is that we ran out of tiles. Game had to be abandoned because there was no way to draw a tile or to ignore the feature.

this happened to HappyGuy in Table #60410959 - he drew tiles and then when no more were able to be drawn, alien research required him to draw/keep extra tile that didnt exist for him to do- had to abandon game.

Then the player with Alien Research Team had to pick a tile, but was given no tile options, and there's no way to pass or skip. Abandon is the ONLY way forward here, unless you want to wait for that player to not play and boot them, which seems wrong.

Two and a half years later and this bug still isn't fixed, along with a lot of other common bugs in this game. It seems a developer hasn't worked on fixing bugs in this game for about 2 and a half years now. Fingers crossed someone steps up at some point in the near future. It would be nice to at least have all the common bugs fixed in this game.

This bug is a duplicate of #8765, first reported ~6 days before this one.
Another instance of this bug is happening right now at Table #117551649, Move #256.
Game status message being displayed to me is "Alien Research Team: You must choose a tile to keep." but of course there's no tile being displayed for me to choose.
No one's bothered to look into this for ~3 years, so I guess I'll be forced into a loss of this tournament game that I'd otherwise win. :-(

The same time occurred. It appears that the card was given to another player (who do not have the card Alien Research Team), as the log showed another player picking.
Log showed 'Alien Research Team: <RED> picks 1 tiles.' But Red didn't have Alien Research Team. It was Blue who had this card on table.

Dear all,
The recent bug (< 2 days) which block the game AFTER picking the tile from Alien Research Team has been fixed.
However, this is pretty clear that there is another (way more older) bug with this tile.
We introduced today (Dec 11st 2020) something to allow us to have a better understanding on this bug. To continue working on this, we would need some more examples of tables ID with this bug, with tables created after Dec 11st 2020 15:00 GMT.

I had Alien Research tile and had to choose between 2 tiles. I select the world side, it went on my board and the game interface still required me to choose between 2 tiles, but there were no more tiles to chosen from.

The general action of not being able to choose a tile and being blocked happened on table=169844703
and a previous abandoned table.
We've been able to replicate this bug somewhat frequently without the need of Alien Research Team, just by having multiple players aggressively taking out tiles from exploring so that there are no more tiles to choose from, at which point the game hard-locks the next time a player tries to explore with their last remaining explore die.

It happened to me this evening at table #214683924
There weren't any tiles left, so at the end of the scout/explore phase when it was time to select a tile because of the Alien Research Team development there was nothing to select and nothing to do except abandon the game. Hitting F5 does not fix this.
You need to add a "don't do this" or "skip this action" button similar to the one for powers that allow you to return two dice to your cup (people use that button when there is only one dice so returning a second dice is impossible)

I reported this months ago and I know a lot of people have as well. And it happened again today. I usually avoid 5 player games because I've only seen it happen there, but - I did some heavy searching at the end of the game today (four player) and was short one card at the end, and it asked me to pick a tile and I could not. So - we had to abandon.

Restarting bga and refreshing page did not solve this problem.
The problem happened with the "Alien Research Tile" which has you draw one tile if explore phase is active. There were no tiles left to draw.
I had no option to not draw a tile so the game could not proceed on.

I needed to take new tiles. But the takebotton was out of function. So the game was stopped for me.
